A "Thank You" from Me to You

1.27.2013

Wow, I have received so much love today, it's unreal. As most of you may know, (if we're Facebook friends) I received a comment on my blog that left me feeling defeated and discouraged. For a few moments, I debated giving up on this whole blog thing. Thoughts like, "Who reads my blog anyway?" and "Why am I even doing this?" popped into my head.
So, of course, I posted about my feelings on Facebook, Instagram and even a Blog Forum that I post to often, and was overwhelmed with such nice comments. People I don't talk to very often, people I don't know very well, friends and family, and even strangers--they all reached out to me.
Everyone made me feel so loved, and honestly kind of dumb for feeling so bad about myself in the first place. I got comments about how beautiful I am, how stylish I am, and how much people really love my blog and look forward to my pictures and posts.
Then, I finally decided that I'm not going to let one negative person ruin my day, my motivation, or my drive, when I have so many wonderful people, people I don't even know or know very well, pushing me to keep going.
So, to all my family, friends, and beautiful followers, I honestly appreciate each and every one of you. Thank you so much for lifting me up when I felt completely defeated. You have no idea how much you have affected me. I cannot say "thank you" enough!

Happy Friday, everyone!
It is an extremely happy Friday for me, because today, when I got on the scale, I discovered I was down 5 pounds! As some of you may know, I'm doing this "Fat Blast" contest thing on Facebook. It started January 5th and going until February 5th, and I'm hoping to reach my weight goal by then, which is now only 2 LBS AWAY! I'm more than excited.
I decided to show said excitement, by showing you guys that I can now fit back into my size 1 jeans. This makes me so happy. Not only am I starting to look better, I seriously FEEL better. I feel confident, beautiful and strong. I have never felt better.
Anyway, enough with my gloating! ;) For Christmas, my husband got me this AMAZING fur vest that I'm absolutely dying over. I've worn it multiple times, multiple ways, but this way might be my favorite. I just can't get enough of it. I know fur may not be for everyone, (it feels a little Kim Kardashian, I know) but I feel great in it.

Pumped up kicks.

So, I got me some new kicks. I've seen these around everywhere, but wasn't sure I could ever pull them off. But of course, my sweet husband reassured me that I could, and actually TOLD me to buy them! So I did, and I only spent $14 on them! The cheapest I've seen shoes go for is about $35, so I snatched these suckers right up. I don't know why, but it seems like good deals just fall right in my lap. I'm not complaining, though! I love me a good deal!

Anyway, I thought and thought about what I was going to wear these shoes with, and couldn't think of many things. Then, this morning, it just came to me. I put my outfit on, and sure enough, it worked. (Well, at least for me anyway!) Enjoy!

How to...

Winter-ize your maxi skirts.
If any of you feel the same as I do, I feel like sometimes it feels a little awkward wearing a maxi skirt in the middle of winter. It's weird, I know, but there are ways you can make that summery maxi skirt/dress more winter appropriate.

I have this adorable maxi dress I got on clearance a few weeks ago, and have been really wanting to wear it. So, I put it on, added some gold accessories, a leather jacket, some black boots, and tights to keep my legs warm, of course, and then added a touch of dark eye shadow and voila! I know everyone is different, so you can add whatever you'd like. I chose to add a little leather and gold detail, but you can choose to add a cute cardigan and silver detail. That's why fashion is so fun.

not-so-nautical navy

1.08.2013

Today I'm wearing these REALLY cute navy colored polka dot pants I recently got from Bohme Boutique. They are seriously so cute and I could not wait to wear them. I know wearing navy with yellow is very nautical and summery, but I didn't care, I wanted to wear it anyway. So here it is, my not-so-nautical (or summery) outfit.

PS-- I also got this new puffy coat from Forever 21 online for only $12! Can you believe it? I know, you're just as excited as I am. ;)

Okay, so I'm no professional protographer, but it is a hobby I really enjoy doing. There's just something about being behind the camera that just feels natural. I won't bore you with my story about how I'm just like every girl in Utah with a camera, but I was really excited to do some fun, vintage photos for my sister and her cute family. She wanted some of her and her fiance for her 'Save-the-dates' and also just wanted some updated family photos.

She had originally wanted to just go to the Union Station to do the pictures there, but of course we were all distracted with our hunger, so decided to stop at Nate's Grill in Ogden for some good, East Coast grub. (Anyone who is in the area, you definitely must try it.) Not only was it incredibly delicious, it was the perfect place for some vintage photos. So we ate, sang along to some old music, and took some pictures, all in one place. It made for some great pictures and good times
