FRIDAY FAVES: RACHEL SAYUMI

5.30.2014

Why hello, Jody Beth readers! My name is Rachel, and I blog over at Rachel Sayumi, a blog about adorable & affordable style for the cheap, chic girl. I'm so excited to be guest posting here today!

I have always loved clothes, but I never had a sense of personal style until very recently. I have been blogging for almost three years now, and I can honestly say my sense of style has grown tremendously. In high school and beginning of college, I used to just wear baggy sweats and tees all the time. I would put together random things and call it good. I kind of shudder when I think about it, actually. :P

One of my favorite styles is the boho chic style. I have always had a hard time grasping it because I had a mental block (I don't have long, blond beach waves, I'm not tall and skinny, I don't have hundreds of dollars to drop on Free People clothes, etc). But I've been inspired by Pinterest and other bloggers (such as our own Jody!) to create boho inspired outfits that don't break the bank.

There are a few elements that help boost that boho vibe. Here are some things you should add to your wardrobe.. Boho made easy!

1. Headbands
Headbands really can help 'up' the boho vibe of an outfit. I've seen Jody wear cute ones (that she makes herself!) and it totally creates a more boho vibe.

2. Anything loose & crochet
Throwing this crochet cardigan over a floral dress made it look more boho-esque. I love that it's loose and comfortable! Throwing over a loose cardigan of any sort can help. Same goes with crochet!

3. Vests
Adding another layer onto a simple top can makes your outfit look more interesting! The looser, the better! I love how my shirts below are plain, but the whole outfit looks more fun with the vests!

4. Fringe
Fringe! I fell like fringe is the ultimate 'boho' element. Add it to anything, and you might as well be at Coachella ;) In the photo above, one of my vests has fringe on it. I love how it looks with the plain Jane top. Below, I added a fringe purse to my outfit. It's such a neat texture, and helps pull the outfit together.

5. Maxi
Maxi dresses and maxi skirts are staples in your boho journey! They are loose and carefree! Not to mention comfortable ;) With a maxi skirt, add a flowy top, or wear a fitted top with a vest or jean jacket over it-- you'll love the look and comfort!

6. Little Accessories
Little accessories go a long way in the boho wardrobe! Whether it's a dreamcatcher necklace, feathers in your hair, or turquoise jewelry galore, you'll be looking boho in no time with these fun pieces!
original post
Mix and match these six elements, and you'll be good to go! It's taken me almost a year to figure out what pieces I love and feel oh so boho in, but I love this style. I don't think it will go away anytime soon! ;)
Thanks for reading, everyone!

LITTLE BLACK SWING DRESS

5.29.2014

Dress: ASOS // Heels: 6PM // Hat: Kohl's (old, similar) // Bracelet: Kohl's // Sunnies: Gap //

Hello! Happy Thursday! We've almost made it through this (short) week and I could not be happier. It's always so hard after a holiday! I feel like I'm still recovering! Haha. Anyway, I'm pretty much in love with this dress, and any swing dress from Asos for that matter. They are my favorite kind of dresses because I think they're just flattering. They're so easy to just throw on, so I know this dress will be a go-to for me all summer. I may or may not need it in more colors... Haha. Hope you all have an amazing day!

VINTAGE FLORAL DRESS

5.27.2014

Dress: Thrifted // Bag: Thrifted // Shoes: Target // Rings & Bracelet: Asos //

My love for thrifting has been with me for as long as I can remember. In high school, I remember running into someone I knew at D.I. (Deseret Industries, a thrift shop basically, haha.) and she asked me if I was looking for a Halloween costume. I told her I was just shopping for clothes, and still to this day I remember the look on her face. She was disgusted to say the least. I know it isn't for everyone, but for me, it's one of my passions. I love finding something beautiful for super cheap. I mean, how can you not?! I love knowing that this dress has a story. It has a past. Who knows what it's been through, and that's what's so amazing about it.

Anyway, hope you all had an amazing Memorial Day weekend! I had one of the best weekends I've had in a while. My husband and I went and saw the new movie Neighbors (which is hilarious, Seth Rogen is one of my favorite actors ever), went to a baseball game, and just enjoyed each other's company. He usually works Sundays, and he actually had this Sunday off, and it was literally the best thing ever. I could never get sick of hanging out with him. I also finally got some pool time, which was fantastic. So I hope you guys all enjoyed the holiday as much as I did. Have a wonderful Tuesday!

OH MY CHIC REOPENING!

5.26.2014

Hi all! Happy Memorial Day! Today I'm so excited to finally re-launch my shop, Oh My Chic! It has been a really long process, but it's been so worth it. Today I wanted to share some photos from the photo shoot that I did with these cute girls. And seriously, this was SO much better than me modeling all of my products! Haha. They were so fun to work with and they're all so adorable, I couldn't have asked for sweeter models. It was fun for me to be behind the camera for once, and also play the "stylist" a little bit.

I promise to have some outfit posts for you guys this week, I know I've been the biggest slacker the past couple weeks but as you can see, I've been a tad preoccupied. ;) Anyway, I hope you guys can take a second and go check out my shop here! And be sure to follow @ohmychicshop on Instagram, because there's a fun giveaway happening today. But you didn't hear that from me. ;) Thank you guys for all your support! Hope you enjoy! Have a wonderful holiday.

SUMMER HEAD SCARF

5.21.2014

'
Dress: Local Boutique (old) // Sandals: Target // Head Scarf: Oh My Chic (coming soon!) // Necklace: H&M //

Some of you may know that I have an online shop called Oh My Chic! While I was in school, things were way too crazy to have it open, so it's been closed for a few months. Well, I'm done with school for the summer and have been making tons of new things to put up in my shop, including this head scarf! I will have so many cute patterns, and they're great because you can wear them so many different ways. I'm 110% positive I will be wearing one everyday this summer, because they're just so perfect when you don't feel like doing anything with your hair. The grand re-opening of my shop will be next Monday, so stay tuned! There may be a fun giveaway involved also. ;) Whoop! Hope you all have an amazing day! Oh and P.S. don't mind these crappy pics, I literally went to the top story of a parking garage, set my camera on my car and snapped a few with my self timer, haha. No biggie. I'm at the point where I don't even care if people see me. I need to get some outfit shots, dang it! Haha.
