A Sushi Picnic

5.13.2013

Boy, this weekend was a beaut, and we took FULL advantage of it. My husband and I find ourselves pretty much doing the same thing every weekend. Dinner, movie, then getting a glass of wine and going home. Which is fine, because we enjoy the time we have together regardless, but sometimes you just gotta switch things up a little bit. So this weekend, we decided to take our restaurant sushi to the park, and make it a little picnic. Amazingly enough, this was the first picnic we've ever had as a couple! 5 years together and we've never had a picnic?? I know, crazy right?

So, of course for our first picnic I wanted it to be romantic, but the world wanted otherwise. We lay our blanket out, sit down, set up all our food... then the sprinklers turned on. We sat there looking, thinking/hoping the sprinklers were far enough away that they wouldn't reach us, so we started eating. Yep, THEN they got us. So we picked up all our stuff, and moved a little further. This was the first obstacle.

As we were almost finishing up our sushi, we were just sitting there, relaxing, enjoying the amazing weather. Then a gust of wind came and blew over the container we had with the soy sauce in. Soy sauce everywhere. Obstacle number two.

We finished up, spent some time on the sketchiest swing ever made, then we made our way over to this gorgeous, big tree to snap some shots. Well, long story short, we only got one shot because (of course) we were sitting on an ant hill and were soon enough being attacked by said ants. That left us feeling itchy, annoyed, and ready to go. Obstacle number three.

We then decided now would be a good time to reward ourselves to some ice cream at Farr's. There is nothing better than their Playdough ice cream on a warm Summer evening. Luckily, this ice cream trip was nothing but smooth sailing and left us both feeling happy as can be.

We love you, Summer.
