A Little Inspiration

2.26.2013

Hello, Friends.
Maybe I'm doing this blog post for me, but hopefully it can help you as well. I started this blog knowing I would have people who disagreed with me or didn't like my outfits. I understand and respect that. I love that everyone has different taste and different styles. It inspires me. I am grateful of the fact that God made each and every one of us different and unique.

I obviously know I have thick thighs and a booty that goes on for days. I know, k? :)
I am strong. I am fit. I am beautiful.
There. I said it. I LOVE my body. I love it because I've worked hard for it. I love it because it dances. I love it because it runs. I love it because it's mine.

I also know that rude comments towards me aren't a reflection of the type of person I am, but a reflection on the person dishing them out.

It is hard for me to put myself out there everyday, but the nice comments I receive make the rude comments seem, well, a little more bearable.

I have a passion for fashion, whether people like my style or not. I'm not here to force you to like me, my style, or even my body. I'm here to hopefully inspire you the way I've been inspired by others around me. I want to inspire you to break out of the norm and to not be afraid to be yourself. I'm just a normal girl, just like you, just trying to bring some inspiration to this crazy world of ours--one outfit at a time. ;)

Oh, and one more thing:

Tie-Dye & Denim

2.25.2013

Happy Monday, friends! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend as much as I did. Were any of you watching the Oscars last night?! Those A-list celebrities definitely brought their A-game and I was so impressed. Even though I loved Jennifer Lawrence in Silver Linings Playbook, I thought for sure Jessica Chastain had it in the bag. I mean, come on. She's flawless, and was SO incredibly amazing in Zero Dark Thirty. Also, was anyone else swooning over Joseph Gordon-Levitt?? Holy cow, I don't know what it is about him, but he makes my heart melt--and the fact that he was singing and dancing made it melt even more.
Anyway, enough with all my Oscars stuff. Today, I decided to be a little edgy. I found this tie-dye top at Target on the 70% off rack, and well, since I'm a sucker for sales, I bought it--without even knowing what the heck I was going to wear it with. Lately, I've seen a lot of celebrities pairing different denim colors together, and it ends up looking really good, so I thought I'd give it a try. I can't even remember the last time I wore actual denim jeans, so this is pretty crazy right now. I was only able to snap a few shots today, because well, as you can see in one of my pictures below, the snow in my backyard is a joke. I literally kept falling into snow piles. After I shoveled it and everything, I found out that underneath was just a sheet of ice. I was slipping and sliding everywhere, and it just wasn't pretty.
Now might be a good time to remind you, I know my outfits aren't something that everyone would wear. Everyone has their own unique styles. I'm just here to hopefully inspire you to branch out of your norm or even give you different outfit ideas. So, on that note, let's get to it.

How To...

2.23.2013

Decorate mugs with Sharpies.
I know, I know. You've already seen this on Pinterest. But I'm going to show you again. My husband and I (well, mainly I) decided we were going to have a cheap date night last night. So, we crafted, made dinner, drank wine, and watched New Girl (our fave). If we're friends on Instagram, you can go see the picture of the mugs my husband and I made for each other, here.
But, I decided I wanted to make a couple more. All you need is some Sharpies, and some ceramic or porcelain mugs. I got mine at the dollar store. When you're done, bake them in the oven at 350° for 30 minutes, then voila!
So, here it is, my friends. My sad attempt at a stag impression, and my arrows.

Spring Fever + Happy 30th Post!

2.19.2013

Was anyone else just as happy as can be about this weather all weekend?? I know I was! It made me crave Spring more than ever, so I dressed accordingly. It always seems a little hard transitioning your outfits from Winter to Spring, so I did a little of both. I wore a thin, 3/4 length top, with pants and little booties, because even though it feels like Spring, there's still snow on the ground!
And, as some of you may know, I just got this new NuMe Style curling wand, and I am absolutely obsessed. I took these pictures on Saturday when I first washed and curled my hair. Well, today's Tuesday, and my hair is still extremely curly. My hair never stays curled for an entire day, let alone 4 days. So, needless to say, I am incredibly impressed. You all should go and get yourself one.
Also, I didn't get a chance to celebrate, but yesterday's post was my 30th post! This may seem really lame to you guys, but hey, this is extremely exciting. Big things are starting to happen for me and this blog of mine, and I am more than ecstatic. It's more than I ever anticipated, and I feel like such a lucky girl. Anyway, Happy 30th Post to me!

Motivational Monday

2.18.2013

I haven't done my Motivational Monday for a few weeks, but this is one you'll DEFINITELY want to read. About a week ago I was contacted about this amazing cause and was asked to help out. I was so touched by this amazing story, so I was happy to do anything I could. It is called the Cure the Kids Campaign, and it is seriously so awesome. P.S. I Adore You is a daily deal website that helps out families with children who have cancer. They've teamed up with Hello Apparel to bring you this amazing campaign. Instead of telling you the story, I'll let them tell you.

"In the summer of 2010 Chelsea (one of the founders of P.S. I Adore You) found out that her 4-year-old daughter, Cami had leukemia.  It was pure devastation to say the least. The Doctor’s told Chelsea that Cami had a very good chance of surviving, but they would have to fight the battle of their lives and it would need to start NOW!  Cami's battle lasted about 3 years. She had many ups and downs along the way, but we are happy to report that Cami is off treatment and officially CANCER FREE!  That is when P.S. I Adore You was born. Throughout their battle, Chelsea met many other cancer moms’ and their precious kids who often times didn't have a happy ending.  These are the families P.S. I Adore You strives to help.  There are so many statistics and quotes I could tell you, but the fact is that childhood cancer remains the NUMBER ONE disease killer of America's children… this has got to be STOPPED and P.S. I Adore You is doing everything in our power to help!  When Hello Apparel found out about our cause they didn't just want to be featured on our site, they wanted to take a stand with us…(how awesome are they?). Of course we jumped right on the opportunity and before we knew it Hello Apparel had come up with the cutest design and they even incorporated GOLD, which signifies childhood cancer. Together we are donating $6 for every shirt sold from February 18th- February 22nd at www.psiadoreyou.com. Funds raised will be given to the SLC CureSearch in honor of Cami and all her little cancer buddies."

So, what are you waiting for? Go buy your t-shirt now at www.psiadoreyou.com! This is such an amazing story. Want to help even more? Spread the word! Tell your friends, coworkers, family members. I will be posting a picture today on Instagram that you can share, and use #hellocure.

Valentine's Day Attire

2.15.2013

So sorry I couldn't get this posted yesterday, but I was a little busy getting spoiled by my sweet husband. I know this is totally cliché but I just really felt the need to wear pink on Valentine's day. I wanted to feel girly and pretty, and I definitely did.

Also, yesterday I was featured on FashionUtah.com for their Valentine's special. I was so excited to be featured with some amazing bloggers. This whole blog thing is really starting to kick off, and I could not be more ecstatic about it.

Anyway, for those of you who are celebrating Valentine's day all weekend, here's an outfit that'll will hopefully give you some ideas of what to wear this holiday.

Comfy Casual

2.13.2013

I must've been hit by the craft bug lately because I've just been sewing and making things left and right! Last night, I made these ADORABLE turbans. I don't mean to brag or anything, but come on, aren't they amazing?! I'm so obsessed, I just want to go buy more fabric and make TONS! One of these days, maybe I'll be brave enough to start my own Etsy shop, but for now I'll try not to get too carried away. ;)
I obviously couldn't wait to wear one of my turbans, so I styled it with my outfit today. I'm a student, as I know lots of you are, so for me, I like an outfit that is comfortable enough to wear all day while on campus, but still cute. So, leggings in every design/color are a must for me. These striped ones I have are an absolute favorite of mine, and I could honestly wear them everyday. They look so adorbs and they are extremely soft and comfy. So, here ya go, loves.
