A Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

You guys, before I talk about my outfit, can I just tell you about my worst day ever?? So yesterday morning, I was looking around in my kitchen trying to find something to eat. Nothing was striking my fancy until I saw there were still some leftover brownies in a pan on the stove. The brownies were about a week old, (so they were kinda hard) so I grabbed a steak knife and tried to chisel a brownie out. As I was holding the brownie pan with my left hand, and chiseling with my right, the knife slipped, and caused me to literally stab my left wrist with full force. I immediately started gushing blood, and ran into the bedroom to wake up my husband. "Babe! I cut myself, and I'm bleeding really bad!" At that point I started crying, not because I was in pain, but because blood seriously freaks me out. Like bad. I was still in so much shock, so the pain at the moment didn't even phase me. I called my mom, and of course she rushed over with all of her medical supplies. Luckily the bleeding had stopped by the time she got there, so she was able to just sterilize it (WORST. PAIN. EVER.) and put some steri-strips on (instead of getting stitches) and wrap me up!

She calls me later in the day asking if I needed anything before she headed into a movie, and I was wanting nothing but popcorn. So she brings me over some popcorn, and in the process, my dog runs outside, so I ran out there after him. Barefoot. I chased him for about a mile on my bare feet. By the time we got home, I had THE WORST blisters on my feet.

To make the day even worse, my dog then of course was barking up a storm outside, and I had to walk (with my seriously painful blisters, might I add) down the stairs to go and get him and bring him inside. After all this fuss, I thought the easiest thing I could do at that point was order myself some pizza. After I enjoyed my delicious, greasy pizza, I limped to take my plate over to the sink, and in the process, spilled the garlic sauce ALL OVER. As if my day couldn't get any worse, right?! So basically, that was one of the worst days of my life, and I'm so glad it's over. Too bad the day after had to be a Monday...

SO ANYWAY. I'm seriously thrilled to be talking about these shoes! These fab Yosi Samra shoes are from the cutest shop called Shop Adorn. They were nice enough to send me a pair, and I'm so glad they did! I just got them in the mail on Friday and HAD to wear them that night. They are SO cute, comfortable and lightweight! I wore them to a barbecue, and felt great in them all night. They are the perfect summer shoe, and the orange seriously makes for the most perfect pop of color. I'm totally in love. Shop Adorn is super great, and my shoes got to me within a matter of days. So if you're in the market for a great new pair of flats, seriously go get yourself a pair NOW.

"It's Friday, Friday! Gotta get down on Friday!" Yep, I just quoted Rebecca Black. Don't hate! I'm so stoked that it's Friday, I can't even contain my excitement! Even though my day started out a little rough (I had to get all new tires on my car.. boo!), I'm excited to get my weekend started. We have lots of fun plans, and I may even be getting a new car! I'm way pumped about it.

And, shoutout to my little nephew, Nixon! He is 2 years old today and I can't even believe it! It seems like just yesterday I was watching my cute sis-in-law and brother experience the happiest (and craziest) time of their lives. I loved watching my older brother become a father. Mainly because I never thought I'd see the day. I mean the kid used to beat the crap outta me! I'm dead serious! One time he was swinging around a bamboo sword (yeah, a bamboo sword!) and "pretending" to hit me with it, and literally knocked me out because he swung it full speed at my head. So yeah, it was weird, and amazing, to see my older brother become a dad to the cutest little Nix. Aunt Jo & Uncle Tay love you, little buddy!!

Happy Friday, friends! Thanks so much for stopping by and reading! xo

Summertime Favorites

Sheesh! That was a lot, wasn't it?! Today I wanted to share a few photos from our fun-filled Pioneer Day, and also share a few of my favorite things about Summer. Yesterday, we had chicken and waffles for brunch at my in-laws, and seriously, it was amazing. It is the epitome of southern comfort food and boy, was it comforting! It was the perfect amount of sweet and savory. My cute mother-in-law made up a dish of fresh berries (one the THE BEST things about summer), with brown sugar and a dash of mint, and IT WAS DIVINE. Oh yeah, and the red, white and blue punch?! She did that. She totally outdid herself and it made for the most perfect brunch ever. Obviously I can now add chicken and waffles to my list of summer favorites.

Conveniently, baseball games are on my list of summer faves too! We finished off our day yesterday with the Salt Lake Bee's baseball game, and while we spent about 4 innings waiting in line for pretzel bites and Chicago dogs, it was a great game. What can I say? I married into a baseball-loving (and when I say baseball-loving, I really mean it) family, and I've come to really love the game myself. Okay, I was kind of forced to love it, but I'm not complaining. ;)

Things I also really love about summer: lemonade (with cute straws, of course), rompers, fedoras, bright-colored bags, my husband in tank tops, sunglasses, sandals, fresh flowers, swimming, hot dogs, and little dresses.

Summertime, please don't ever leave me.

Happy Monday! I had such a relaxing weekend, I definitely didn't want it to end! So I got this dress from Forever 21 seriously so long ago, but it has always been one of my go-to casual dresses. It's extremely soft and comfortable, and the ruffled sleeves give it that extra something. As you've probably noticed, I'M NOT WEARING MY WEDDING RING AGAIN! I'm real mad/sad about it. My ring finger is still swollen and really hurting. Some days I can force it on, but it always ends up hurting worse. So for now, I'm improvising and wearing whatever ring fits for now.

And guess what, you guys?! We almost added another fur baby to our family this weekend. At first, we had our hearts set on a Husky/Wolf mix, and man was he gorgeous! And HUGE. I'm talkin' 150 pounds huge. But when we got to the adoption, another couple was there looking at him, and started filling out the paperwork to adopt him. But we weren't going to quit there, we ventured off to another pet adoption and found THE SWEETEST pitbull/terrier mix. Pitbulls always get a bad wrap, but this was seriously the calmest, most good-natured dog I have ever met. We drove home to get our dog, because of course we wanted to see how they'd get along. But the more we talked about it, the more we realized we just can't handle another dog right now, especially another big one. I'm starting school back up again in August, and there's just no way we could show two dogs the attention they need. Moral of the story? We didn't end up getting another dog, and I'm really sad about it. The end.

Ch-Ch-Ch Changes!

Happy friday, friends! I have been making some SERIOUS changes to my blog that I've been contemplating for a long time now. I've changed my domain from www.jodybchic.com to www.jodybeth.com just because it was confusing (and kind of annoying) that I sort of had two different names for my blog. This way, my domain matches my blog name! When I first created my blog, jodybeth.blogspot.com was already taken, so that made things a little difficult. I was really dreading changing my domain, because my original domain is the one that everyone knows and is used to, but hopefully in the long run, it will be easier for me and everyone else as well! I hope you all can understand! :)

I have also added a Sponsor Tab for your convenience, so if you'd like your button featured on my blog, you can easily do it there! If you have any questions about it, feel free to email me at jodybethblog@gmail.com. I'm excited about these changes and hoping everything goes smoothly! Thank you all so much for all your love and support. I couldn't do it without you guys!

Ombre Stripes

Can you believe this is my first time EVER ordering something from J Crew?! You see, I'm the kind of girl that doesn't spend a lot of money on one piece of clothing (because why spend $100 on one thing when you can get 5-6 things for that price?!). I've always been that way. But when I heard they were doing an additional 40% off clearance, I knew I had to at least take a look. So I did, and I ended up getting a steal of a deal. I got 4 tops for just over $70! Okay, compared to my Savers finds, that's not that good of a deal, but for J CREW, that's an amazing deal!

This top seriously has two of my favorite things--ombre & stripes. What more can you ask for?! I love that the black stripes fade to gray. It adds a little extra something to it. Welp, now that I conquered J Crew, it's on to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale... haha. Thanks for reading! xo

Happy Monday, friends! I have spent my Monday seriously dying on the couch with the worst pain in my knees, so I hope yours has been better than mine! I've had problems with my knees all my life, and the pain just seems to be getting worse and worse.

Anyway, I'm so in love with this top for many reasons. The main reason being, it was my Aunt Kathy's. She got this top when she went on an LDS mission in Paraguay. She passed away in 2001 from ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and then my grandma inherited it. After my grandma died in 2012, all of the grandchildren were going through her stuff, and out of all the piles of her stuff, we found this. When I found out it was my Aunt Kathy's, I knew this was the one thing I wanted to take home with me. I've only worn it one other time, but when I do wear it, I seriously feel special. Something about it just makes me feel, I don't know, safe. I just love it.
