Bronx Bombers

5.31.2013

Top: Victoria's Secret MLB Collection // Shorts: Gap (Old) // Shoes: Target // Sunnies: Old Navy //

I told you guys, my wardrobe in the summer is so simple. I'm all for baggy t-shirts any day! (And anytime I can show my Yankees pride, I'm all for that, too!) I really just threw on this outfit to do some crafting outside on my patio, but this is something I would totally throw on for a ball game, running around with my crazy nephews, an ice cream trip (which may be way too often) or just on a summer day. I love these shorts because they're the perfect length. Not too short, not too long. They're awesome. Plus, these puppies were a Savers find! All my favorite shorts seem to be from Savers, and I don't mind one bit!

Anyway, I'm out to enjoy my weekend! This week flew by because of the holiday, I can't believe it's already Friday! Tomorrow I'll be enjoying some relaxing manicures and pedicures with a few girls from work, and I'm beyond stoked about it! I hope you guys have some fun plans as well! Have a great weekend! xo

Classy & Chic

5.29.2013

Top: H&M // Skirt: TJ Maxx // Shoes: ELLE via Kohl's // Sunnies: Old Navy // Necklace: Target //

Okay, aren't these shoes awesome?! Another Kohl's find, of course. Originally $60, but I got them on sale for $16.99! Woot woot! I LOVE THEM. I also tried out this sleek hair style I got from Amber and I was kind of loving it! At first I thought it looked really dumb on me, but throughout the day, I got so many compliments on it, so it made me totally love it. It looks really classy and sophisticated, so I paired it with my dark red lipstick, and I was set. I took a few shots in my dining room because the rain didn't want to make up its mind!

P.S.--For those of you who have noticed me change my blog header like a million times, it's because I'm extremely indecisive. I can't decide on that thing for the life of me! I'm seriously losing sleep over it, and I have no idea why. I just can't figure out something with it that I absolutely love. Maybe I'm just thinking about it way too much... What do you guys think about the current one?? Hopefully this one will stick, but the next time you see my header change, now you know why. If anyone wants to help, feel free! xo

Memorial Day Weekend

Warning: I'm about to bombard you with lots of pics of my adorable nephews.

Hey, I warned you. So cute, right?! I seriously had the best Memorial Day Weekend. Friday after work, I headed down to Spanish Fork to watch my hubby coach his little brother's baseball team for their Memorial Day Tournament. I was excited to watch him play again, because it has seriously been a long time. Marrying my husband, I knew baseball would always be a huge part of my life, (because baseball is seriously his whole life) but I never thought I'd love it as much as I do.

They played all day Saturday too, so, since we were down in their neck of the woods, I asked my brother if I could steal Nixon for the day. He was seriously LOVING the ball park. He just kept pointing with his tiny, stubby fingers and saying, "bay-ball" with his binky in his mouth, of course. He was loving on Taylor so much, it seriously melted my heart. I can't wait to spend days at the ball park with our own little ones. I could go on and on about how great it was to spend time with that little guy, but I'll spare you all the mushy gushy stuff!

Then on Monday, I FINALLY got to lay out by the pool and absorb some good ol' Vitamin D. And who better to spend it with than my sister and my other cute, little nephews? Haiden just graduated from 2nd grade, so we celebrated with cupcakes, of course. I seriously love being an aunt, it is the best thing ever. We ended our perfect day with Mimosas & watching the season premiere of The Bachelorette. I loved spending the weekend with both our families. I'll say it just one more time--It was the best Memorial Day Weekend ever. Hope you all enjoyed yours, too!

Rainy Day Blues

5.28.2013

Top: PacSun // Pants: Old Navy // Shoes: Old Navy // Bracelet: DownEast Basics //
Sunnies: ZooShoo //

Yesterday I was laying out by the pool soaking up some sun, and today it's rainy and gloomy and sad. I liked yesterday much more. Although I have to say I was really excited to wear these babies. I'm talking about the pants here, guys. I went to Old Navy on Friday and freaked out about these pants. I loved them so much I was willing to pay full price for them (which was only $34, but still. I never pay full price on things, seriously) BUT when I got to the register I discovered they were only $16! That just made them that much better. I was stoked! Plus, I got my hubby some new V-necks. He's a sucker for those Old Navy V-necks I tell ya. Moral of the story? I love holiday sales! I hope you all had a fantastic Memorial Day Weekend! I'll be posting pics from my weekend tomorrow!

In Celebration Of...

5.23.2013

This post is coming to you in celebration of the grand opening of H&M in Farmington Station Park! It feels like I have been waiting for this day for so long, and it's finally here! I'm more than ecstatic about it. It's about 25-30 minutes away from where I live--so it's close enough to be bad news, but far enough away that I won't be there daily. So it's perfect, right?

H&M is awesome for multiple reasons. One being, they have great prices. I can always get the best deals there. On top of that, it's good quality. I put together a few outfits on Polyvore to show you guys. I even NAMED them. (I know, I'm suuuper creative.) I have a lot of good, Summer neutrals and I seriously want to get every outfit. But for now, I'll just dream about them. Enjoy! xo

1. Aztec-Casual

2. Stripes & Suade

3. Black T's & Olive

4. Ball Caps & Neon
I know, super creative names. Aren't you loving all the neutrals? You can get every single one of these items at H&M! If you ever see me there, be sure to say hello!

It all started with a headband...

5.22.2013

^^K, isn't this cool?! I use Picasa Web Albums, and they just recently did an update, which includes this cool feature! It just does it for you! It may seem like I'm overly excited about something so little, but this is COOL guys! Okay, now I'll get serious.
Dress: Bohme Boutique // Shoes: Target // Ring: Style Lately // Necklace: Thrifted // Sunglasses: Steve Madden // Clutch: Ross ($6!)

So my obsession with leopard? Ask my mom, it started WAYY before it was trendy. Okay, maybe it was trendy back then too, but I never gave it up. It all started with a headband. One day, my mom got my a leopard print headband, and after that, I wanted EVERYTHING LEOPARD. I'm not even kidding you. When I was in third grade, I wore an ENTIRE outfit of leopard. Leopard pants, leopard top (long-sleeved, might I add), leopard shoes and of course my leopard headband. One day, I even got mad at this girl for wearing a leopard top, because that was MY thing. Yeah, I was crazy. I'm not that crazy anymore, but I'm still just as obsessed. So when I saw this clutch at Ross I knew I had to have it. It didn't hurt that it was only $6! The shoes were on sale, too! I'm pretty sure they were $12? $14? See? Too excited to even remember. Happy Wednesday! Thanks for reading! xo

P.S.-- Did you notice I colored my hair?! I went back to the Ombre.. I couldn't resist!

Ogden Marathon

5.20.2013

I have thought and thought and thought about what I was going to say about my half marathon experience. And so I've come up with this:

My two sisters, their husbands and myself originally signed up as a relay team for the Ogden Marathon. My oldest decided to do the full, my other sister wanted to do the half, which led me deciding what I wanted to do. I decided then and there that I wanted to do the half with my sister, instead of doing just my leg, which was 5 miles. So I trained for the 13.1 miles.

The day of, I was feeling confident. Nervous, but confident nonetheless. I had trained, I felt good, I felt like a runner, I was ready.

By about mile 5, I was hurting. By mile 6, the pain was excruciating, which led me to tears, which led me to barely being able to catch my breath. The fight going on in my head was unlike anything I've experienced. Do I stop? Do I keep going? What if the pain gets worse? What if I can just run through the pain? It was then I realized running is much more than physical, it's emotional. Mental. It's your body telling you to stop, but your mind telling you to keep going. By mile 10, I was sobbing in the pouring rain. I knew I couldn't go any further. My body was telling me to stop, and I felt compelled to listen.

I was brought to the finish line in a medical van (a REALLY warm medical van, but still). I was first embraced by my mother, which flooded me with more tears and emotion than I can put into words. I had to tell her. I had to tell her I couldn't make it. I couldn't even finish. I couldn't help but cry even more when I saw my husband, my sisters, my mother-in-law, anyone. I felt like a failure. I felt devastated. I felt like everyone was cheering me on, and I let them all down. I set a goal of running 13.1 miles, and I failed to do so. I felt a disappointment in myself that I've never felt before. The feeling of being so close to something, but not achieving it, is a feeling unlike any other.

In the car ride home, I said to my husband, "Maybe I'm just not a runner." He quickly responded, "What?! Yes you are a runner! You run everyday! You can run 10 miles, easy!" With that I responded, "Well, not easy." It was then my feeling of failure slowly started diminishing, and a feeling of pride set in. I knew my husband was proud of me and that my family was proud of me, and that made ME feel proud of me. Even if I didn't get to cross the finish line, I knew my family was there to greet me whether I crossed it or not. PLUS, there's always next year. ;)
